Hi Everyone,
I’m so excited to write this post! Last Saturday I was picked as one of the judges for the Holland Marsh SoupFest!
I didn’t really know what to expect since I’ve never been to a soup fest before. I was surprised just how busy it was! The people were really friendly. As soon as we got there we were greeted by the event hosts and they immediately gave me mugs with a little soup sponsored by Seneca to hold my soup!
I judged the soup based on their aroma/taste/texture/originality and spices.
Tickets:
Adults – $12 for 7 samples
Student/senior – $7 for 7 samples
Child – $5 for 5 samples
The prices were not bad since you can either use your ticket for a full mug of soup, or just their sample. It was entirely up to you and how full you were! Because I was judging and had to taste multiple of soup I opt for the little sample cup! Even with the little sample cup I was still pretty full!
I took a few pics with the chefs, and they were more than happy to take a picture with me!
This was clam chowder with bread sticks. Super delicious!
I actually quite like this simple soup. This is just vegetable soup – but I love love the aroma!
From Centennial College. This was their pull pork with potato soup. In my opinion they would had won if the meat was softer.. although the Chef did say him and the students were up until 11PM making this soup! Don’t get me wrong, this soup was delicious! Only if the meat was more tender!
This was the other soup which I REALLY REALLY like. I’m not big fan of squash. But this was so good I love the seed, the texture – just everything mixed together pull off the soup really really well!
Humber College was also a really close runner up.
This was very interesting. They added grape!
And finally, Georgian College! They had 3 different kind of soup… I really only liked one of them.
This was my fav! This was the leek soup and love the decor they add onto it. It’s crunchy texture with the whip cream.
They have the PHO duck, and the pull pork soup. I wasn’t a big fan of these two soup. Something taste… off.
This was an interesting soup. Pumpkin Spice soup. The first sip was really really sweet, but as you keep sip on the soup it gets better and better! Interesting huh?
I decided to stop by the Farmers Market to get some fresh veggies!
Look how fresh it is!
Hope your week is going great!
Thanks so much for reading,
What a great experience! Tasting all these soups… Lucky you 🙂
